      Tasting Notes and Description
Doctors John and Brigid Forrest are Forrest, a small, very much 'hands-on" producer of premium quality white wine from their home vineyards in Marlborough.

Leaving behind careers in molecular biology and medicine, John and Brigid returned to Marlborough in 1988 to establish their first vineyard at Renwick - at the heart of the stony Wairau River Valley.
Vintage 1990 saw the first Forrest wine and immediate success with a trophy at the national wine awards - success that has been repeated many times both nationally and internationally over the subsequent vintages.

Named after Drs John and Brigid Forrest, The Doctors’ range is about innovation and excellence. New grape varieties, alternative winemaking techniques and select parcels of fruit all qualify to create very special wines under this unique label.

Simply put, we’ve perfected delicious full flavoured wines by slowing the grape plant’s ability to make sugar but not its ability to make flavour. And it’s all done sustainably, in the vineyard. No chemistry tricks or genetic engineering wizardry here. Just sustainably grown, naturally produced lower alcohol wine. Oh, and one more thing: it’s not really a secret. We believe so strongly in the potential of lower alcohol wine, we’ve shared everything we’ve learned about the process with the New Zealand industry. Wine’s about sharing, after all.

Nothing’s quite as fun as our Riesling. It’s like biting into a deliciously crisp Granny Smith apple while simultaneously licking lime sherbet and apricot. So easy to drink, with the perfect balance of fruit sweetness and fresh acidity at a modest 9% alcohol. A much better way to enjoy life.

"Of course Germany has no shortage of Rieslings at 9% or less...
Sherbetty nose with nicely balanced light sweetness. Such an easy drink! This is whistle-clean. It doesn't seem chock-full of terroir influence but it is most agreeable passionfruit juice. Some persistence. Well done!"
      16 / 20 points.
